"Promoting Shared Knowledge"

Chapter Mission Statement: The European Student Chapter of the Wildlife Disease Association was created in October 2005 and its mission is to promote shared knowledge between students and established researchers. Several tools and activities have been developed to work toward this goal.

Tools and activities:

The EWDA Student Workshop is organized in a European country every second year alternating with the EWDA conference on a theme related to Wildlife Diseases/One Health, to give wildlife health students the chance to get acquainted with applied state-of-the-art scientific reasoning and meet professional researchers excelling in the field of wildlife disease investigation.

The EWDA Student Mentor Mixer held during the EWDA conference helps connect students and high-ranking academics in order to develop international relationships across Europe and beyond..

To further promote shared knowledge across Europe, the EWDA Student Chapter is working with a constantly evolving network of Country Representatives whose role it is to promote the activities proposed by the chapter and engage students interested in wildlife health in their respective countries. The Country Representatives organize intranational one-day EWDA Student Symposia to allow students to share the experience of wildlife health experts and network with fellow wildlife health students in their home country.

If your country is not represented yet and are you interested in getting involved, contact us at ewdastudent@gmail.com.

In addition, the EWDA facebook page is a forum where we invite everyone to share:

  1. News and stories on wildlife health issues. You can find these on Pro-MED, but also through RSS feed from diverse sources!
  2. Job and education opportunities. You may know of a position at your university, receive an offer through your faculty, or you may be a subscriber to other lists with occasional offers related to wildlife health: post it!
  3. Conference announcements. You are aware of a future meeting on wildlife health issues or an upcoming conference with a session on wildlife diseases? You’re organizing or know the organizing committee of such an event? This is the place to distribute the information!
  4. Wildlife health - hot topics and debates: Brainstorming, whatever you are mulling over right now, share it here!
